Personal Statement

Hi my name is Federico Barbieri. I have played soccer from a young age and have grown to love it as my favorite sport, and my top priority . Soccer is what drives me every day, and keeps me happy and sane during these crazy times. I play for Santa Clara Sporting Club and Leigh High School. I have been with Santa Clara Sporting Club since I was 8, and I am a senior at Leigh High School. I play center back for both high school and club, but I also like playing holding mid and outside back. I believe what sets me apart from other center back recruits, is my touch, my ability to pass the ball with both feet, the ability to read the game, and put it in successful tackles all over the field. I was captain of my club team for 2 seasons and that allowed me to develop the leadership aspect that a center back needs. I am looking for a school that has strong academics that will shape and enrich my knowledge, and also a strong soccer program where I know I could make a positive impact. 

I see myself not as an individual on the field, but as someone who works within the greater goal of improving the whole team.
