Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Tate Manley. I am a junior at Valley Christian High School and I love soccer and science. In every part of my life that I am passionate about I pour my life into, that includes my desire to be the best soccer player on the field and the smartest in the classroom. My desire to succeed ultimately comes from my parents and my Christian faith. I want to be successful to make my parents proud and continuously work hard for it because God calls me to “work heartily, as unto the Lord” (Colossians 3:23).
My love for soccer grew over time as I became more and more dedicated and involved in the game. My parents put me in a recreational league at a young age and I’ve been playing ever since. Initially soccer was simply a sport I played for fun, but now it is more than that. To me soccer is a lifestyle, much more than simply fun at this point. I love to play because of the work I am able to pour into the game and my team and then succeed because of it; it is fulfilling.
My biggest strength on the soccer field is my size. Playing as a striker, I am able to dominate the final areas of the field but also able to control the play from my position as well. With the skill of my left foot and degree of control compared to my stature, I am able to take defenders on by surprise.
I am searching for a school that will provide me with the opportunity to play at the best of my abilities while also pushing myself in the classroom. I would love to attend a school where I can play while studying engineering. I understand that trying to complete an engineering degree whilst playing soccer is no easy task, but I am up for the challenge.
Thank you for taking the time to read about me. Please email for for game film or any other information you would like to know.
